About Us

Diddy Dolphins Baby Swim Academy was launched in March 2017 by Lynda Hunter.

Lynda qualified as a swim teacher in 2016 and is able to teach all ages and abilities. Teaching babies to swim became a strong passion for Lynda as she was keen to help little ones begin a safe and happy relationship with water and to lay the foundations to develop into confident swimmers.

Diddy Dolphins focuses on the STA Parent & Child Programme. This programme follows the STA Learn to Swim Pathway utilising the Starfish and Stanley Award Scheme.

Lynda is also proud to be working alongside the Multi Award Winning ‘Star Swimming Academy.’ By working together the two learn to swim academies will provide Diddy Dolphins with the confidence and the ability to naturally progress to the next stage of independent swimming lessons.

Prior to the Covid-19 outbreak, Lynda and her small team welcomed over 200 Diddy Dolphins taking part in baby swimming lesson each week, with lessons running 6 days a week.

Today you will still find Lynda in the pool teaching the Diddy Dolphins, which is where she loves to be.

Lynda currently has a small team of swimming teachers who are as equally passionate and focused. Together they ensure all swimming sessions are engaging, fun and friendly. In addition, they recognise the importance of allowing parent and child, quiet time and bonding opportunities to build trust, confidence and enabling progression.

All mother and baby learn to swim sessions are ‘baby-led’ and no activities are ever forced. The Diddy Dolphins are allowed to build their confidence at their own pace which is key to developing happy and confident swimmers.

Babies are welcome from 12 weeks to 3 years of age. We keep our learn to swim classes small with no more than 10 swimmers in a class. This allows the teachers time to get to know all the ‘Diddy Families’ and gain the trust of the little ones.

All equipment is provided and all swim sessions are stimulating and interactive which helps to develop water confidence and safety skills from Lesson 1.
